Lima to Hobart, 30 May - 1 June 2012

We had not really been looking forward to an overnight stay in Lima however we discovered that our hotel was across the road from the airport which meant we avoided the 45 min taxi ride into the city. Our hotel was very nice and we really appreciated having hot water, no need for mosquito nets and dry atmosphere after our time in the humidity of the rainforest. We decided to treat ourselves to a nice meal with a nice glass of wine (or 2) for our last night in South America. We had a leisurely start in the morning before making our way across the road to the airport for our long journey home. Our trip home involved flight from Lima to Santiago, Santiago to Auckland. Auckland to Sydney & Sydney to Hobart with several hours between each flight. We effectively missed Thursday and arrived home Friday evening. It has been an amazing adventure and we feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to see as much of South America as we did in 11 weeks of traveling. We're already thinking about our next holiday but in the meantime it will be enjoying the comforts of home for a while, especially a nice glass of wine, and back to work.
